World’s Largest Wind Farm*
Millionaire T. Boone Pickens recently started a project to build 2,700 wind turbines over four years in the world’s largest wind farm. The wind farm will be constructed on 200,000 acres (about 80,000 hectares) of Texas countryside, and will supply 4,000 megawatts of electricity. That’s enough to power about one million Texas homes. Texas was identified as the perfect location for the project due to its wide-open spaces, low population, and steady stream of hot air. :-)
