Webinars
Hi there,
I have a small peeve to get off my chest and the title gives you a good idea of exactly what it’s all about.
More precisely, it’s the time it takes to get logged on – for me out here in rural Italy, that’s typically 10-20 minutes – and then have to wait while the organisers get – well, organised! I lose at least a half an hour just waiting for someone to start talking. Today, I did the usual wait, and then, about five minutes into the presentation, somebody in headquarters accidentally (I guess) hit the “end” button, and I (and I presume everybody else) got the “End of Webinar” sign and that was that. Whee!
The current batch of on-line seminar systems are not bad, but I’m convinced that there HAS to be a more efficient way to get all this done. It should be possible to just make a group call – Skype allows this up to 100 people at once, I understand, although I may be wrong – and if it’s a smaller group (i.e. less than 100), this should be easier to make work. Then, if someone is late (other than the presenter), things can go ahead and if the presenter drops out, s/he can just come back and it will still work. With the system today, “end of webinar” – for me – was the end of the whole shebang – I was fed up!
Sorry to take this out on you, Gentle Readers, but I just needed to get rid of it. :-)
Hope your day was better than mine?
All the best, and ciao for now,
Craig
